How do you pass a County Assistance District election?

Explain the district in one sentence, tie the sales tax to the specific services state law allows it to fund, such as roads, deputies, parks and fire protection, show that everyone who shops in the district helps pay, and turn out supporters inside the exact boundary. URSA runs these campaigns for the committees that support CAD elections.

What Moves CAD Yes Voters

  • One sentence of explanation

A County Assistance District collects a voter approved sales tax inside its boundaries and spends it inside them.

  • What it buys, where you live

Roads, law enforcement, parks or fire protection, made concrete for each part of the district.

  • Who pays

Everyone who makes a taxable purchase in the district, including people who live elsewhere.

  • Local control

Revenue raised inside the district stays inside it, under the county's order and state law.

The Yes Campaign Playbook

From the commissioners court order and parcel data, matched to the voter file in Culper.

  2. Explain, then ask

Every piece starts with what a CAD is, then asks for the vote.

  3. Find it on the ballot

A CAD proposition can sit near the bottom of a long ballot. Tell supporters where.

  4. Turn out supporters

P2P, streaming and a daily early vote scrub inside the boundary only.
